Catering
All food and drink must be provided by one of our approved caterers. All catering, beverage or other food services are extra. Our approved caterers may be contacted for all catering needs. Renters will work directly with the caterer in developing menus and catering costs. All food and beverage must be handled by an approved caterer.
Please note that all approved caterers pay a commission of 10% of the food sales and 20% of the liquor sales to the Kentucky Science Center. Ask your caterer for more information. Some caterers build it into their pricing--others do not.

Alcohol Policy
The caterer must hold the appropriate caterer's and/or temporary liquor license. Kegs of beer are not allowed. All bars will be set up by the licensed caterer. Excessive drinking will be controlled by the holder of the appropriate license. Bars must close at least 30 minutes prior to the end of the event. Alcohol not served by licensed and insured bartenders is strictly prohibited.

Anyone violating these rules will be asked to leave the Science Center and all refundable and non-refundable fees paid will be forfeited.
Decorations
All decorations must be presented to and approved by the Science Center event manager prior to the event. For safety reasons, only floating or votive candles may be used.
Equipment

All rental equipment set-up and tear-down must be done by catering staff. The Kentucky Science Center is not responsible for manual labor involved with events. All rented items must be removed at the conclusion of the event. The Science Center is not responsible for loss or theft of personal property at any rental event.
Private Events Only
The renter may engage the premises for a private event only. No admission will be charged, nor may tickets be sold on or off the premises, or advertising be placed announcing the event. Fund-raising events are permitted only on behalf of the Kentucky Science Center. The Science Center's policy prohibits rentals to political advocacy groups.

At Time of Booking
There is a $150 refundable damage deposit due at the time of booking, as well as a non-refundable $250 holding fee.

Smoke Free Facility
The Kentucky Science Center is a smoke-free building due to the nature of our mission and the audience we serve. Federal laws prohibit smoking in buildings serving school children. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us remain smoke-free. (A smoking area is available just outside our Main Street entrance).

Are you interested in a historic setting for your event? Jim Miller Hall is a real treasure! The cornerstone was laid on July 3, 1833. After a fire destroyed the original building, the new building was dedicated on September 8, 1895. It was purchased by the Thoroughbred Chorus in 1981. The building was known as Thoroughbred Hall until recently when the Thoroughbreds renamed the building after Director Emeritus Jim Miller who led the Thoroughbreds to 6 of their 7 International Championship wins. Jim Miller Hall, home of the Thoroughbreds, is conveniently located at 10609 Watterson Trail, in the heart of Jeffersontown. It is the perfect location for your event. This historic church building can comfortably accommodate your guests. The large stained glass windows and huge trees make beautiful backgrounds for your pictures. There is a recently remodeled kitchen for food preparation by the caterer of your choice. It's okay to serve alcohol however, you can not sell it! Smoking is not allowed in the building. Tables and chairs are provided for parties of up to 150 – 200 guests. Ample parking is available. The hall rents for $500 per day and a dance floor is available for an additional $150. We ask for a $100.00 damage deposit on a separate check that we hold. If the hall is not being used the day before your event we will usually allow you to go in the day before to get everything setup and decorated. That way you're not so rushed the day of your event. NEWS UPDATE: In the Spring of 2011, We replaced all the carpet and gave the walls and trim a fresh coat of paint. We also purchased 200 white fan back chairs, and 2 round tables. We updated the appliances in the kitchen to include a side by side refrigerator, a stove and an under cabinet microwave above the stove. We also repaired some of the stained glass windows and make several other minor improvements. Professional coordinating service. We are available during your entire event to assure that everything goes the way you want it to, at the time you want it to. We assist you with planning as well as coordinating during the entire process. We take care of the details so you can enjoy your evening with your guests.

-One hour rehearsal on Thursday evening

-Half an hour for the ceremony, in addition to your four hour reception

-Your choice of ceremony decorations that we have to choose from

-Fresh or silk flowers for the alter are available for an additional fee

-Champagne fountain with a case of champagne or punch

-Use of our crystal toasting stems and cake/knife set

-Cake cutting at no additional fee

-Use of our bird cage or trunk for gift cards

-Access to the building 3 hours prior to your event.
(If you need should require additional time for getting dressed or taking photos you may acquire access to the building for an additional $50.00 per hour.)

-Your rehearsal time should be scheduled within one month prior to your event to prevent scheduling conflicts.
